The Drina-Tara Rafting Center is an AMAZING place! It's like a small village, with a central meeting "lodge" where the most delicious and abundant meals were served. OMG, so much food! We stayed in a deluxe bungalow, which included our own private bathroom. Worth every penny! It was tiny, but since we weren't in it much, it worked well. No a/c, but temps were in the low 50's at night, so it was only warm in the late afternoon.
The rafting was SO MUCH FUN! We were on a raft with 3 other groups of two, so with our guide, a total of 9. The Tara river canyon is the second deepest next to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The river runs quickly and at this time of year, the rapids were around a class 3-4. Just thrilling enough for me. I popped off the side once, but landed inside the boat, thank God! The water was freezing cold, but we had on wet suits that worked very well. Rich took some videos on the smaller rapids since I was worried he would drop his phone in the bigger ones. Plus he needed to help row!
We rode the river for about 3-4 hours, taking lots of breaks and just enjoying the scenery. The Tara river joins the Drina at one point, which is the river our camp was on.
One of the highlights of our trip for sure!
