It's official--we are toured out and bored with seeing old Roman ruins, amphitheaters, churches...and we still have a lot left of our trip!! With that being said, I think it's made this part of our trip even more enjoyable. We both were so ready to just chill out and do nothing, so it's been perfect timing.
Our building is right on the beach. We take the elevator down, walk about a minute and plop down on a chair already set up. Costs $3 for the whole day. The first day we went down, it was overcast and never did get sunny. After a few hours of being cold, I was done.
The next day, which was yesterday, was perfect--sunny with a nice breeze. We spent the whole day there. And no worries about what to take with you--there are people coming by selling all kinds of stuff--fresh chilled fruit, popcorn, grilled meat, ice cream, beer, all kinds of play things for the beach, dresses, curtains (which I have to say is the strangest thing yet). Gypsies wanting to tell your fortune--Kathi, you would love all the people watching!! And since we can't understand what they're saying to each other, it's fun trying to figure it out. :))
Two things I've noticed that are drastically different here than in the USA...first--all, and I mean ALL of the women, including 400 lb grandma, wear bikinis or two piece bathing suits!!! I have on a one piece and am beginning to feel like a prude! It's the strangest thing--they all strut around with these huge bellies like a man would. LOL
Second weird thing is none of the little girls wear a top. They have on frilly girly bottoms, but not a top! I've seen them as old as 8-10 even...not developed yet, but still--it's just strange to me. Must be a cultural thing.
The food here has been good, we've eaten twice at the restaurant that sits out on the water--looks like a spaceship in my first picture I posted. Can have dinner and drinks for around $11. Nothing special, last night was tomato salad and fried shrimp.
Today is our last day here--we are trying to convince ourselves to go do some sightseeing...but that beach sure is tempting us again!! Check back to see what we did. :))
