Retired & Traveling
I haven't mentioned this before because I've had so much else to blab about, but one thing I really find strange here is the fact that eggs and milk are sold on grocery store shelves and not refrigerated! At first I thought it was because we were in a tiny bodega, but even the large stores sell them that way. So weird!! Milk comes in a box, eggs are in plastic forms. I'll try to remember to take a picture next time I'm at the store. Another thing to note--the terrace we have at this apartment is wonderful, it has these shades that roll out and we are considering buying them for the lake. However, there are about 10 doves that are CONSTANTLY COOING!! I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's like hearing the same three notes played on a piano after a while. They like to perch on the railing and I've gotta say, they are driving me nuts. LOL We met up with some new friends we made on our food tour last week, Rogelio and Marianne. We enjoyed some white wine and tapas with them, what a fun couple! They're heading back to Chicago on Thursday, and have invited us to come visit...looks like that will need to be on our US bucket list! :) On the way back to the subway, I stopped in to a manicure place to get a much needed pedicure. Rich went off and found a barber shop and definitely got his money's worth! Ah well, it's just hair, right? :)
