Rich made a quick trip to a pharmacy and got some meds, started feeling better and away we went. We walked to the big cathedral we saw yesterday, and got a bite to eat at a place nearby. The city guide bus pulled up as we were leaving the restaurant, and we were two of about 15 people on the bus for the tour.
It was a different tour insofar as there was a live guide and we didn't have the option to get off and back on. Once you were on, you stayed for the entire time, which was about an hour.
The population of Sofia is around two million, according to our guide, but it doesn't seem like that large of a city. Everything is within a mile or two of walking--at least the main sights.
We saw a lot of what we saw on foot yesterday, and the stories we heard matched Dino's for the most part.
After the bus tour was finished, we made our way over to a park to join a free food tour. Hard to believe, but all you have to do is show up and you get to try food samples from some of the city's best restaurants!
We were in a group of 15, which is the limit and were led by a native Bulgarian girl named Mina. We visited five different places and tried everything we were given. We had fun with our group, we were the only Americans, but didn't really click with anyone like on our previous tours.
The food we tried was good for the most part, but we both said we wouldn't order anything at a restaurant other than the pastry thing--that was delicious!
We both were tired after the tour ended, and walked back to the apartment--thankfully, we were fairly close. It looked like it was going to rain, but never really did. We've been lucky again with the weather!
