Retired & Traveling
The port of San Juan Del Sur is a tendered one, meaning we just pull up offshore and drop an anchor. Our tour group wasn't the first to leave the ship, but that was okay with us.
Once we were off the tender, we boarded a bus and drove for about an hour or so to a place called Amaro. It seemed like a resort of sorts and is right on Lake Nicaragua. We could see two volcanoes off in the distance, and the lake was HUGE. We were served fresh fruit and soda, water, etc. Some natives performed a dance routine for us and then we were led down to the shore of the lake. Rich was the only one to wade in the water and he said it was nice. Not warm or cold. We took a few pictures and then it was time to board the bus.
Our next stop was at a church in the town of Rivas. It was built in the 1500's, and had some damage due to an earthquake, then was refurbished in 1960.
We were going to do some shopping in the port before getting back on the tender, but it was just too hot. So we caught the next boat back to the ship.
We met up in the Horizon Court for lunch and spent the rest of the day just chilling out, although Pam and I did do a load of laundry.
Dinner was delicious as usual, and then we went to see the Theater's performer, which was a ventriloquist, Jerry Goodspeed. He was amazing! He used several puppets and closed with two of them singing a duet, if you can believe it!
We did a little shopping in the ship's stores and then it was time for bed.
