Retired & Traveling
Our last day of the cruise, and Rich is sick with some kind of head cold. :(( He began feeling badly last night with a cough and congestion, so we are keeping away from him today!
It has turned chilly and we needed a jacket on our Deck 7 walk this morning! The actual air temperature was about 67, but the wind was really blowing which made it feel a lot colder.
We got breakfast after our walk then met up in the theater for a cooking demonstration by the head chef and Maitre D. I was so sleepy that I could barely keep my eyes open, we gained another hour last night. All these time changes have wreaked havoc with our body clocks!
We were going to tour the galley but we would've been late for Bingo, so we blew it off and good thing, cause the place was hopping! The jackpot was up to $2500, and we came close to winning a couple times, but didn't.
I went to Alfredo's pizza for my last veggie pizza--so yummy I didn't mind eating alone! I took a picture of it, will look forward to having it again on my next cruise. :))
Pam's stomach was still a bit tender, so she and Mike went to the buffet so she could get some soup. Rich was in our room just resting. Good thing we didn't have any excursions today so he could recover!
The final session of Bingo was at 3:30, and even though we went early, we had limited choices of where to sit, all the good tables were already taken. Mike and Pam both came within one number but we ultimately lost. Phooey, much more fun to win! This guy who had been a heckler at several different events on the ship won the jackpot, well his wife did actually, but we hated to see him win since he'd been such a toot. It was almost $3,000 too.
Dinner was a tribute to America, all the waitstaff were dressed in Patriotic colors. We took a picture with our two waiters, Bernard and Wilbert. They did such a good job for us and made dinner a real treat. There was a Baked Alaska parade, which I've never seen before on a ship--a bunch of the staff came parading through the restaurant carrying baked Alaska desserts and singing. Then they gave out some goofy prizes to some of the waiters. Made it fun.
We had to pack and set out our suitcases for pick up, the not so fun part of the trip. We all agree that it's been a long one, probably because we had so many days at Sea this time. Pam, Mike and I went to the theater to watch The Voice of the Ocean, which is a take off on the hit tv show. They did a great job, complete with the chairs that turn, the soundtrack from the show, etc. The judges were entertainers that we had previously seen, Will Martin, Doug Funk and an opera singer that I missed seeing perform, Jennifer. The cruise director was the emcee and there were 7 contestants. Some of them were pretty good, one guy was pretty bad. The judges picked people to be on their teams and then narrowed it down to their favorite for the finals. The audience then got to vote and this gal, Je'ney won. We had seen her the night the improv comedian guy picked her to help with his routine. She was really good.
We headed off to bed after that, past our bedtime by then! LOL
