STATS
Departure: 9:55 AM (this is getting to be a habit), mdt, Salt Lake City, UT
Arrival: 6:00 PM (this is really getting to be a habit), mdt, Laramie, WY
Miles: 389.3 miles
Travel Time: 8 hrs.
We're in a rut. We left at 9:50 am, again.
Today was mostly driving, and driving, and driving. We only went 389 miles, but it seemed like sooooo much more. That’s okay, though. Utah and Wyoming, luckily, have lots to see. There’s that cloud and that tumbleweed and that rock and that broken-down car by the side of the road and ….
Oh yeah, and we saw snow. Right by the side of the road. In May.
Tomorrow should be better, though. We’ll be in Nebraska (that bush and that cloud and that car and that rock and that corn field and …).
We’re supposed to have thunderstorms tomorrow. Just that much more to see (that black cloud and that streak of lightening and …).

Kristen Averyt & Patrick Smith Looks like you are enjoying the trip! And yes-- there is only one year in the past 13 where there was no snow in the Front Range of Colorado in May :) Mother's Day snowstorms are a tradition in the Rocky Mountain West! The tornado activity in the MidWest should wane for the next few days, but do take care if you're in the MidWest through the weekend, as we expect another outbreak! My (INSANE) stormchaser friends who work for NOAA in Oklahoma keep me in the loop on these things :)
Trish What fun to see snow after the drought in CA! If you have time to drive downtown, I've heard the murals are cool. See laramiemuralproject.org
Earle Somewhere along that route is the historical location of Pony Express. Made a stop there on my way back to Ohio yrs ago. I'm sure its still there. I think its in Gothenberg, Nebraska. Enjoy!
Wendy Beautiful country!
