Comments:
We pulled into the campground, hooked up the utilities, and settled in, not knowing what to expect from this area. The next morning, we took a tour of the area and got a feel for how they live. We saw lots of farms, lots of quilts, and lots of laundry hanging out to dry on lots of laundry lines. We also saw lots of buggies. Yes, the Amish do use a horse and buggy as their transportation. Parking lots for stores in the area have spaces reserved for buggies, and we saw a number of horses and buggies tied up in front of stores.
The area is very picturesque, with the hills, trees, farms, and buggies always present. It’s a slower life style, with very few modern conveniences.
There are a few more things we want to see and do, so we’re going to see if we can stay over one more night.

belinda There are no pictures of actual people? Is that because you're not supposed to take pictures of them? What do the inside of the buggys look like?? It looks awfully open, especially for winter in PA.
wjmccain The Amish prefer not to have their pictures taken. The buggies are all enclosed, so they stay dry, but probably not too warm. They are required to have lights and turn signals, though.
