As we pulled out of Santa Rosa Lake State Park, we saw nine hawks circling. I'm glad I’m not a field mouse.
We went into Las Vegas, New Mexico. Looked around the town and had lunch in one of their city parks.
Next, we drove to Santa Fe. We took a bus tour of the city. Lots of art galleries here—lots and lots! After the bus tour, we walked to the Loretto Chapel and saw the "miraculous staircase". It’s a circular staircase with no center pole for support. The craftsmanship is incredible.
Oh, and the toilet stopped working tonight. Fortunately, the important part still works, it just doesn’t flush clean water into the bowl. You might just see us sooner than you expected (or wanted).

Today, we got a story about cold-waxing to remove unwanted hair. It’s a good thing Mom wasn’t driving at the time. She laughed so hard that she couldn’t see straight.

Rietta My grandpa's ranch is in Las Vegas NM - you should have told me your were stopping there :) I would have had to wave to the cows for me.
belinda I've been to Santa Fe - multiple times, even! - and can't for the life of me figure out why/how I missed all the sights you've taken pictures of... *especially* the staircase. I'm going to need to have a serious talking to with my (subpar!) tour guide (my really good friend David who lives in ABQ). :) Are you going to fix the toilet, like soon? It would suck if it didn't work for an entire week while you drove home...
Brudder Sounds like Santa Rosa park was a winner, not like the RV park in Las Vegas. How baren and bleak. Just like "camping" on a parking lot. (I understand WalMart provides free parking lots for RV's..Those nine "hawks" you saw circling were probably VULTURES. Tell Moli to watch out. Now, Santa Fe has to be one of the most interesting and oldest cities in the USA. All those red roofs and adobe walls, and OLD stuff. However, the church was built in 1610 and the oldest house in 1646? What did the townfolk live in for 36 years, tepees? Must have been interesting.Your tolilet is broken? How inconvenient, especially in the middle of the night when the closet toyjoy in the park is probably 100 yards away. Renee and I stayed at Fort Stevens SP in Oregon. Couldn't believe $20 to pitch a tent. Beautiful park, with every convenience including bathhouses and rest rooms for each of the dozen camp circles. Every circle had a bathhouse/restroom except the circle for tent campers. It had none. Now, this is typical government planing. Those folks "camping" in big RV's and what we call "bouses", were self-contained and had little need of a restroom, but we tenters had noting but a 300 yard walk in the dark (uphill in both directions), or the bushes. Bushes work just fine for me at 2am, but not for Renee. Molly and I had to escort her Bummer.
Scott Looks like fun! I hope it wasn't 300 degrees outside!
