Palo Alto, CA: Up at 5 am. After several false starts, we were off by 7 am. 426 miles later we arrived at beautiful (eh hem) (outside of) downtown Winnemucca.
Found a really nice park in Sparks NV to have a picnic. Thank you to our two girls for baking such yummy cookies. We're happily chomping on them as I type. They have a place of honor in our microwave since we've got an incredible amount of stuff with us. I'm pretty sure we've packed more stuff this time then when all four of us went to Disneyworld for a month. We’re jamming stuff into the cabinets and then slamming them shut. When we open them everything falls out. Yeah, we’re roughing it all right!
Shannon, we found a sign for you. Mom actually ran out into traffic on Interstate 80 to get the picture. Dad sat in the RV, safely on an exit ramp, holding his head in his hands and mumbling to himself. Good picture, though. You can hang it around your neck on a string, and you can quit going to the chiropractor.
DAILY ENTERTAINMENT... courtesy of Shannon
Cookies (also from Rietta): YUMMO! If we ration 2 each per day, they should last 'til Joliet, Illinois. As if that’s going to happen….

belinda hello hello!!!!!! I was wondering what happened to you! Bummed thinking I was going to have a B&B blackout for the month. :) The trip looks good so far, especially as your transmission stayed in your car. (My sister's transmission fell out of her car in Winnemucka.) :) Post more! Type more!! Excited to read stuff from youze guys. xoxo b
Kim & Jerry Orloff Glad to hear you at least made it to Winnemucca... or whatever that first stopover in Nevada was! But remember - fighting software is NOT a vacation! Hope the lack of posts means that you are having so much fun that you just don't have the time or inclination to do computer work! Looking forward to some Route 66 posts (or reports when you get back) - concentrate on photos! Bill - we miss the singing; are practicing on "Once Upon a Time" in preparation for our next quartet rehearsal. (And Up the Lazy River seems to be working well at chorus!) Barb - keep Bill in line and don't let him get lazy!!!--Kim (and Jerry)

Brudder Let's see....this is Sept. 11, and I am now reading the "latest" report from Sept 4. Talk about snail mail! Next time send a postcard. Even the US Postal Service is faster than this. By now, you should have visited Julie and be in Chicago.
Brother McCain If impatient Corvettes tailgate too close,Then cut around you in dangerous races,Relax; enjoy the scenery, 'Cause it's them that miss these glorious places!Burma Shave
