What an amazing place Coober Pedy is. Aptly named by the Aborigines (Kupa Piti) which meant white men in a hole.
A day of self touring for the Stevo's today. The information centre was a great help to guide us through the numerous options. To see all the different underground buildings from Hotel, to mines, to homes shows the different life lived from below.
We visited the Desert Cave Hotel, the Big Winch Look Out, the Serbian Orthodox Church, Umoona Opal Mine & Museum, Faye's underground home, followed by a sunset view of the dog fence (the longest in the world stretching over 5,300kms accross Australia) and the Breakaways. As there wasn't a cloud in the sky the sunset wasn't at it's finest.
