The next day we woke up bright and early considering how late we stayed up the night before, but only to watch the rugby which was incredibly BORING!
Sigh, it took up half a day because it finished at around 11 am. But it didn't stop us all catching a train to Bath, a historic town around 30 kms from Bristol for the afternoon. The train ride was beautiful and it was the first real time we got to see the actual country side. We saw gypsy areas, little villages and farms it was great.
Bath was even better. It was like stepping into the 1800's. The town was so well preserved and just stunning. Basically Bath is a very old roman 'spa' town. This means there were once really good hot springs under where the town is, and rich people would come there to have "spa's" and soak in the hot natural water. This means there was a lot of very fancy old buildings around to accomidate for all the rich when they came around.
I guess this explains the cities name!
We wondered around the town for a while just soaking up the atmosphere. It was also a very good place to do a spot of shopping which we ended up doing.
After a quick lunch at a really nice pub we headed to the Bath Beer Festival for the late session. WOW, what a place it was! I had never been to a beer festival, but what I have heard about octoberfest, I had the idea this place would be similar. That was not true at all.
It was set in the city hall and was packed with hilarious characters that were great to watch. Some included an emo midgit couple who couldn't get there hands off each other. A 'bucks night' groom who managed to scull 8 BEERS in a row and was a Brillliant dance, a large amount of fat old men wearing heavy metal t-shirts laughing about nothing and of course who can forget the TERRIBLE band full of 50 year olds playing classic covers.
It was one of the funniest things I have ever watched, we were defineatly out of place, but it didn't matter!
The beer on the other hand, wasn't so funny. I don't really like beer in the first place, but when its warm and STRONG it was even worse! YUCK.
After the older ones had drunk more than enough beer, we headed back to the house to get changed for Bruce's Birthday dinner.
We went out to a great Thai place for dinner with bout 30 of Bruce's friend which was really great! We met some really cool people including a woman who works for the Big Issue! We ate until we were completely stuffed and then headed to another bar which was also cool! It was the bar's birthday so they had free food there too! Unfortunatly we were all stuffed! We spent some time here just hanging out and exploring it because it was about 4 levels! We then moved onto a club which was interesting. It was called the cave which is pretty self-explanatory, but yea, it was in a cave. Very interesting place. Bad thing was that is was dub step music. There is no way you dance to this music unless you are trying to kill people!!!
We went home at about 3 am.
The next morning was very slow. After watching the rugby semi final aus vs NZ ( fail australia!)
We went to a local cafe for food. We had a 'brunch' at 2 pm so it really should have been linner. Anyway. with was good to have a big brekky, but tim WAS NOT impressed by the lack of food that day!
After this, we went to the shops and went shopping! Most people got things, except for me! Tim however got a pair of jeans which was a relief because he had been dragging me around stores for about a week!
Anyway after this we walked back to the house and headed home, back to Kingsdene for a VERY NEEDED early night.
