So after we were back in Amsterdam we headed straight back out to Amsterdam.
WOW Brilliant is the only word I have to say about the place. When we were flying into the city I just could not believe how nice it looked! Firstly, it had many canals which I had NO IDEA about, You could see all the windmills, like in the postcards and it was so nice and green!
The other advantage was that everyone spoke english!
We got to our hotel which was stunning, best place we have stayed full stop. it was run by two gay Germans call Ken and Vlad. Can you get much cooler than that?
After an intro to the beautiful hotel we wondered outside because it was getting close to dinnertime. It is really hard to crossroads in Amsterdam because there are an incredible amount of bikes. EVERYWHERE!!!! It pretty scary!
We found a small, run down looking pub where we went for dinner. But this is where the saying " never Judge a book by its cover" comes in handy. It was so incredibly delish. Not tradition netherlands food, but amazing all the same. Best steak and Pasta I have ever tasted! Suprising it was in Amsterdam!
We then wondered to the red light district just for a look, although we didn't know what to expect. WOW! It very interesting, and much more of a tourist attraction these days.
There are about three very long roads through the middle of the city totally dedicated to the 'red light' district. It is filled with sex shops, theatre, coffee shops ( where you can buy weed legally) and most interesting hundreds of " glass shop fronts" with women in them parading in underwear, so men can chose which one he would like for 'fun.'
It was crazy and horrible at the same time, and we go out of there pretty quick.
The next morning ( after an AMAZING BREAKFAST) we woke early and walked around the other side of the city ( which is pretty small) but beautiful, saw all of the house boats, and then did a bit of shopping. We also saw a vodka museum! In the afternoon we went to see the only " floating flower market in the world" which actually isn't as amazing is it sounds, but the flowers were very nice. After more wondering around, seeing the city the way a local would we went to a drum shop which tim nearly had a seizure when we saw it. We were in there for about an hour....
It was raining a little then so we went back to the hotel for a little and then met up with Franny who had been there with her friend Jana for a few days! It was great to see them!
We went out for pizza and then the took us t a great cafe where we had what is called s Sheesha, basically, evaporated water with a flavour to it. You are supposed to smoke it but it was horrible I hated it! I just could not do it properly!
After failing for so long we gave up and wonder around the red light district again! It was very interesting this late at night!
We went home pretty soon after that, a little disturbed
