And back to Austria we go..
Vienna is stunning, a beautiful looking little city with old charm and a relaxed vibe. Home of Mozart, and thats made quite clear throughout the city.
Once again we started with the hop on hop off tour to see the city and what it had to offer, and once again we see old buildings, palaces/castles, and museums.
Vienna and the main Palace was once home to Marie Antoinette and it was quite amazing to be taken back to that piece of history, after hearing about it we decided to watch the movie with Kirsten Dunst to gain a better understanding of how the royals work over here.
The absolute highlight of Vienna for us was a visit to the worlds oldest zoo which was situated just past the palace gardens. The zoo was stunning and mixed modern with the old, very very old. They had a fantastic array of animals, and we were able to get so close, by far the best zoo i have ever visited. It was freezing cold that day with light rain/snow, but we managed to see everything. We sampled a local "street food" whilst here called langos, a large round deep fried flat bread thats then covered in garlic oil.. YUUUUUMMMM!
We stumbled upon an Australian pub and couldn't help but duck in and have a look. They even had vegimite on the menu, but avoided it this time. Great little place, full of all things Aussie but not relevant to nowadays such as fosters.
While I took some time out to window shop, Tom was busy drinking and making friends with some germans in a local pub who taught him how to play a game with a couple of dice (similar to the card game bulls*** if anyone knows that one), difference is, if you lose the round, you shout a round of Jager shots. It wasn't until 1am when Tom stumbled back to the hotel, lucky he had a long train ride the next morning to sleep it off.
Vienna is stunning, and we will be visiting again but in the summer months.
Heading to Prague, our last new adventure before heading home. 7 days to go.
T & C xx
