Last day in NYC, loaded with good intentions but couldn't quite drag myself out of bed to make them all come true. Today was a chillout day, all day. Just about dragged myself out of the hotel in the evening - checked out the aftermath in Times Square, confetti was still coming down! Then went to Toys R Us, saw Geoffrey the Giraffe and a T Rex as well as the in-store ferris wheel. Returned to the hotel shortly after via a local pizza joint, Patzeria Perfect Pizza - was surprised to find that their world famous Grandma pizza was nearly out, 1 slice left, and they weren't makin...

NYE in the NYC - the place to be. Spent the day walking around Manhattan again, explored the New York Public Library further - such a beautiful building - and then Grand Central Station - awe-inspiring stuff. Waded through the gathering crowds early on in Times Square, what an atmosphere, before changing and heading out to a club for a NYE par-Tay. Wished I could have enjoyed it more but felt light-headed and made my way back to the hotel soon after midnight. Ple...

Ok, another day in the big apple...checked out the Upper West Side, see the Dakota building where John Lennon was shot ... visit Strawberry Fields memorial in Central Park, stroll back through the park past the frozen lakes. In the evening watch the ice hockey in Madison Square Gardens - the Rangers got thrashed by the Philadelphia Flyers 6-0. Discussed the finer points of the Rangers with a local in a restaurant at night.

Lower Manhattan - rode the subway, just like the Warriors. However, when it feels like 5 below zero, and there's a 2 hour queue to see the Statue of Liberty you get flexible...so the free Staten Island Ferry it was. Great views across the bay and of Lady Liberty herself and there and back in about an hour in the relative warmth of the ferry and the terminals :0) Strolled on to Ground Zero, passed Wall St, and saw the construction site and plans for the new memor...
