Another day, another adventure - but not another chance to update this blog....and now i have a mere 20 mins to reel off some of the stuff that i have been up to, so bear with me..
In Xi'an now, ancient walled capital of China, near the resting place of that emperor who loved pottery....what are they called?! ... Oh yeah, the Terracotta Warriors....see them tomorrow.
I have walked (climbed, crawled, jumped, danced, ran) the oldest part of the Great Wall and even hauled my aching bones up at 4 am afterwards to see the sunrise on it the next day - totally worth it. Nothing like 10k on an ancient defense structure followed by 5 hrs sleep in the coldest youth hostel with the most solid 'bed' before watching a spectacle like that.
Took the overnight train last night, whoa! Got harrassed by a drunk Chinese policeman - Frank, our cool Chinese tour guide came to the rescue - the lush didn't know where he was and thought i had stolen his bed? Slept 6 to a berth, including 2 locals, a very nice old lady swapped bunks to get an early night - hard to do when we were singing 'Happy Birthday' 2 feet away for one of the girls 2 feet away. The 'toilet' was a squat, which is the fashion here in Mother China, that opened on to the rails below - they lock the loo's 10mins either side of stations, so that's alright then
