So Cambodia....what to expect? Well, naturally our Cambodian tour guide was bound to say it was the best country ever....a long bus journey in, including a short ferry across the Mekong (this river is everywhere and massive!) and our group were expecting alot.

What we were met with was a dusty, hot place. There is only 1 KFC in all the country, not necessarily a bad thing, and it is here. Hopefully gives the new visitor a starting point to judge the development of the country, including its tourist trade...

I ate some local food and we watched a very graphic video about the recent history of Cambodia - gruesome stuff, look it up sometime if you want to hear about a shat upon people. Interesting fact - Cambodians ate the livers of their defeated enemies and went so far as to offer them to visiting dignitaries...these were more recently Vietnamese soldiers from the conflict 30 odd yrs ago. On a more pleasant note, ended the day with a tuk tuk tour of the main sites, beautifully lit at night...some crazies had some insects for dessert in the market.

Walked along the river, stopped off at the F.C.C. (Foreign Correspondants' Club) for a swift half before bedtime - it was a homestay in a Cambodian village the next day...
