Where's Bartos?
Hi all,
As you can guess, I'm in Vietnam. Hue to be precise, which is the old
capital from when the royal family ruled until mid 1900's. Anyway, since
leaving Laos some 7 or 8 days ago I haven't seen the sun. It is a little
depressing (but luckily they have plenty of beer to ease the pain - and at
good ole 1970's prices!!!).
Had an eventful boarder crossing coming into Vietnam. Our Ozzie guide wasn't
let in so had to wing it for a couple of days without him. Also, the
crossing was right up in the mountains of northern Laos and was raining and
foggey (couldn't see more than 5 mẻters) plus we were driving on a
boggy track on the side of the steep mountains with huge drops offs the
edge. But we sủvived.
Since then have seen Halong Bay, got drunk in a pub there run by a Kiwi -
called the flightless bird and sung Crowded House with the bảr man and
a chick from my tour til the wee hours. Also spent a couple of days in Hanoi
(the curent capital). Amazing place. Saw Ho Chi Minh at his Masoleum (he
looks like an asian Colonel Sanders. Very surreal. Traffic was crazy too.
They love their scooters and horns. Also done a few ửa museums etc.
Since then have travel on the Reunìfication Express (train) to where I am
now.
Lást night had dinner at a place where the guý opened 6 beer bottles at once with 6 bottle openers. Very clever. But had tomake sure it wasn't a fluke, so ordered plenty more...
Planning to catch the Liverpool v Manchester Game tonight at a local bar.
Should be exciting. Go the Reds.
