Singapore home to the Raffles Hotel and obviously the Singapore Sling. So the only thing we knew of what to do was to head there and drink that. So once we check into the hostel we head into town in hunt for the Raffles, now of course knowing nothing of Singapore we look at the map and decide best place to start would Raffles plaza and head from there. So when we get off the train and have a look around, nothing in sight. We consult the map again, on second inspection everything in Singapore is named after this guy Raffle. So the hotel is miles away, so we dander off in search of this hotel in drink. 2 hours later and a lot of tall buildings later we find it, of course its shut, but it also looks like the White House, the chances of us not being throwing out after 3 seconds was slim. So we only completed half of our mission that night but we will head back tomorrow, a bit less scruffy and get our drink. The next day we decided to maybe not head for our cocktail straight after breakfast so we decided to head into singapore to see what could find, since it wasnt that big and we didnt have much time, we decided to just walk about the city centre to pick up a few things. We hit the main street , and well it was one massive department store after the other and not like Debenhams either. More like Selfridges but bigger and more designer gear. That street was like a Scobby Doo chase scene background, it went something like, Prada, Luis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Armani, Prada, Luis Vuiton, Chanel, Armani over and over and over again. This was enough for me, no matter what time it was, it was now Cocktail time! So we arrived at Raffles and walked in head held high, and sat down and picked up the menu and dropped it straight away. 12 bloody quid for a cocktail, never mind an other fiver for the bloody souvneir glass, which i sent home in a box wrapped in bubble wrap, so it breaks, I wont be happy. So the Singapore sling was lovely, no matter how it tastes I wont say anything horrible about a drink that cost me 12 pound.
So that was the main highlights of our trip to Singapore. Both here and KL where very similar, very developed cities. Although there was one thing that had confused me since I arrived in KL and ran through to Singapore, and it took a while to hit me what it was. I hadnt realised but i had unwittingly entered the tallest person in Asia contest, I probably entered it in Thailand but hadnt of noticed because there was alot of Europeans about, but now in Malayasia and Singapore, from what i could see, and it seemed was a lot more than everyone else but I was doing very well in the Competition. At one point I actaully thought i was winning, until I walked into an Australian bloke who i thought was a tree and then i was humbly put back into my place, but i reckon i was close to getting a medal!
