We arrive in Auckland airport after filling about 20 pages of immigration papers, apparently New Zealand dont take this thing lightly! After we buy some cheap Alcohol, litre of gin and a litre of Vodka, for less than 20 pounds, and Charlottes worry that we wont drink it all ( i think she forgot who she was with) we head to passport control! Here we are interogated on where we have been and what we are planning on going and what colour of pants we are wearing and what kind of shoes I have on. We finally get a new stamp and off we go, as far as customs, here we have to declare that we have hair that wasnt grown in New Zealand, that we have seen anumals that may not be native to New Zeland, declare that we hate Australians and also say that we bought some wooden figures in Fiji after this and they confiscate my shoes and power hose them with a dilute acid to kill anything that might be on them we finally get through to arrivals.
We go to find a bus to central Auckland but it is raining and cold so we turn around and see if we can go back to Fiji but they say we cant so we stand in disbelief and try and remeber what you do in weather like this.
We finally get to our Hostel for the night and go and speak to thr Spaceship people and find out if we need tot bing anything with us, to pick up our spaceship. After we leave the space station we decide to walk about Auckland for a bit to see what is about, the answer is nothing much and we just walk about aimlessly!
Day 2 in New Zealand we pick up Galelio, our wheels and house for the next 33 days! After we pick him we head of North. We stay in a place called Orewa a small town just outside Auckland to prepare ourselves for our adventure and hvae somewhere to sleep.
In Orewa I got my hair cut because it was starting to look like a mop, and we also load up on food, after all this we head to the Bay of Islands!
Bay if Islands was supposed to be beautiful, we got there in the dark and didnt get to see it driving in, so thay was a waste, another thing about driving in the dark, it makes it difficult to find somewhere to stay, we finally found the place we werent looking for, after finding out that NewZealand doesnt really sign post their roads!
We wake up on a sunny morning opposite a beautiful lake that we didnt realise that was there when we parked, which was a bonus. That day we went to find out what there was too do on in and around the area. We got convinced to go on a boat trip to have the chance to swim with Doplhins and to see the 'World famous Hole in the Rock'. Unfortunately we didnt get to swim with dolphins because the pod we found had baby dolphins with them. Although this was a disappointment seeing a large group of dolphins swim in the wild was pretty amazing! Then it was onto the Hole in the Rock, which was exactly that a hole in the rock wasnt that impressive and not that world famous! So that trip kind of ruined our trip to the Bay of Islands because thats is all we really did up there!
