we arrived at newcastle and tryed to find a room every were was full apart from this one backpackers across town. we thought o no its going to be the worse place. once we arrived their was two little houses with a little sign on the door "backpackers". at this point we found out that it had a swimming pool, pool table and hammocks and was really nice we checked in and was speaking to the reseptionist about the town. the town is the second biggest city in victoria apart from sydney but the place was like a ghost town their were empty shops every were and no one on the streets. the receptionist told us that the town was hit hard by the money crisist and all the small bussiness moved away to smaller towns or went bust, she also explaned that most of the east coast has been forced by the goverment to stop selling doubles and shots in bars this has cases a drop in nightlife. we are both shocked at australia at this moment in time because it sells it self as the biggest drinking country in the world but when you see what its like then that is incorrect. the younge people get drunk really easy and became so bad they dont know what they are doing. it made the youths in england like pretty sensible and can handle their drinks. we took a walk down to the beach were we stopped for pie and mash it was so good (not as good as the docklands pie and mash but ha). that night we meet a young German couple called Elaine and Anders. we went for a few drinks once again the streets were empty which was shocking because it was a sat night. we found this pub which we went into as we went through the door we was all hit by a massive sound this was due to the pub/club being packed. we was shocked it felt like every one in the city we were in was in this one place. their was even a food stand in the bar selling BBQ.
the next day lynsey woke me up really early which was not good. we went to a nature reserve and planned to spend the whole day just chilling in the sun. we saw kangeroos quarlers, dear, emos, snakes, and birds it was great the roos are so funny to watch. this was a chilled out day.
next day we didnt do much sitting round the pool and sleeeping in hammocks was as about creavie we got this day we did look up train times but didnt bother booking whats the point we fort what ever happens tommorow happens. all we know was we were heading to coffs harbour.
next morning we arrive at the train station to find we missed a train by 5 mins. only a 4 hour wait for the next one tho. the sun was out so we just had a sleep in the park laying on are packs.
next stop . . . . coffs...
