On Thursday it was jasmine's birthday and we all went to Viavia this club in the middle of arusha. Its like all outside and the bit inside is covered by MASSIVE bamboo umbrellas its amazing, the dance floor inside doesnt have an umbrella bamboo thing so your dancing under the stars to the sound of the serengetti. These African guys were teaching us how to dance 'the english way' because apparently we can't dance like normal muzungus.
All the massi men (African villagers)were in their traditional clothes which is like a checked cape thing and head bands and have loads of beads in there tyre shoes (they make there shoes out of tyres because appreantly they last like 10 years). And they were all dancing with the muzungus, it was well cool.
Then at 12am english music starts and everyone heads outside to the main dancefloor and there is loads of lazer lights ouside aimed at this dancefloor and you dance right under the stars to proper R n B, it was sooo coool! and it was like raining a wee bit but cuz it was well warm even at 1am, it cooled us down and it was amazing.
I got propositioned by a girl and her brother (!) to go back behind the toilets. I thought this was a good time to leave Viavia, before we were all dragged behind toilets.
We were also called pikey's by other muzungu's because of Jess' mancunian accent, lovely.
We were ment to find a massi guy called Lewis who goes to Viavia alot (he is friends with Freddie who looks after us at the house)Lewis met his English girlfriend on the massi experience where work the world students go to experience what it is like in the villages ie drinking cows blood with milk and the clotts etc. Jess and Louise are going to find there long lost husbands to be.We were ment to find Lewis so he could find us a safe taxi to get into. Could we find lewis. no.
We get into a taxi where i think we are going to die, even though the taxi driver has 4 stickers (3 is reccomended) we do eventually arrive home after many detours and a stop off at a petrol station with my heart in my mouth ready for me to puke it out. I think i cut the circulation off in Jasmines hand.
But we are all safe and alive :)
Yesterday we went to the orpahnage and it was the most incredible experience yet heart breaking at the same time. We had to drive through this village with all the children running after the cars screaming 'MUZUNGU'S! MUZUNGUUUUUUU'S!'
We arrive at the orphanage where we are met by a rabied dog, lovely. We eventually get inside by darting around this dog. As soon as we get in all 18 of the children jump on us and yell cameras. They are such posers :) they just went around with our camera taking photos of everything esp themselves and just looking at them haha. All of the children are SO adorable.
They were obsessed with our hair and we were all attacked with a comb they use to comb the rabied dog with, we now all probally have fleas.
Baba and Bibi run the orphange and we had tea with them which consisted of 9 huge chapatis. We had to stuff them in our bags because we cudnt eat them all and we did not want to offend.
We got the recommended taxi back with John who has a cracked windscreen which he can hardly see out of but apparently he is the best one haha. Someone had broken on his car so we had to travel back in 5th gear all the way over potholes and up the steep hill to the work the world house. A cheap rollercoaster ride :)
