Hi Barnaby
Can't believe I have been home for 2 weeks already.
Well NZ sounds as if it is going well despite the weather not allowing you to join the clouds up in a basket. It was perfect weather here for that this morning, totally clear but rather crisp -1degs C, I even watched a balloon take off from my neddy at 6.45am (back to the old routine already).
Santa Cruz was great and I happened upon a wine festival in the main square across the road from the hotel, timing!!! The only trouble was that all the blurb came in Spanish and due to the heat the only thing that was drinkable were the reds as the white and rose's were a little warm to say the least.
I am amazed by the Easter part of your blog, did I miss a hand out from Sabina (she wasn't the only one to struggle with names as she never did have an 'R' in her name!) or were you carrying a dictaphone round with you to remember all those dates, facts and names, maybe it was just 2 months of Pisco abuse that caused my grey matter to stop absorbing so well?! Oh and I must thank you for that very generous description of me, not sure everyone would agree!
I have a piece of advice for you. Go and by a wine bar in Thailand or a perfume shop in Sydney but don't return. I am sure your friends will not appreciate that comment but the return to reality is grim, even if you feel you are missing it, having to comply with a 9 - 5 life again is extremely tough!

Hey B,
Well well well, I am loving your writing skills. I think Mother dearest even sent you a personalised e-mail complementing them :)
You seem to have had fun with the Toyota Sprinter, I had to Google it I'm afraid, needed an actual visual....big mistake!! Preferred the picture you painted, it's bloody awful looking!! Ford Focus all the way.
Anyway, not sure where your next stop is, but all the best.
Hope to see you soon.
Oh.. can you believe we had hail storms here in Dubai, just the other night. I can't, ha!!
Take care.

Ki aora Barnaby,
Shame we missed each other by such a short amount of time! Sounds like the land of the long white cloud is treating you well plus the rest of your trip sounds amazing so far.
Looking forward to the photo's.

Found a picture of the bridge here http://www.pbase.com/faerie_39/image/56923491. Looks rather alarming.
Also a Pingo is a glacial feature (mound of earth-covered ice) - I wonder if that has any connection?
Glad the girls are well - did you also see Basil?
Benny
I thought you said you were visiting Marge & Tina. How did you end up in South America?

Hi B,
I am afraid I have had so much going on here (and none of it good!) it has taken me ages reading through the blog which I have to add is such a joy to read...What an adventure you are having! Your sense of fun, and humour always makes me smile when little else does at the moment I am afraid....
Lots of Love

Wowweee, this is good isn't it? Although, I do like it when you send postcards from your travels :-) Its nice to have something to brighten the office with!!
Aww Barnaby, reading your journals gives me mixed feelings of a lump in my throat, and then overwhelming excitement in my tummy thinking of the wonderful times, places and people you are experiencing, and for once, having the time and peacefulness of mind to absorb it all.
Take care, and looking forward to the next instalment.
