Tuesday 19/9/17. Day one.
Suckley to Kitsilano, Vancouver.
We are off on our next adventure - to Canada and then south following the Pacific Coast Highway to San Diego and then west to explore the National parks. Flying to Vancouver from Heathrow at 17.20 this evening.
After a pretty much perfect flight with BA (Shoreshank Redemption, Churchill, Hidden Figures...) we arrived at Vancouver on time and queued for a taxi. Bearing up well considering it was 8pm local time, midnight UK time, as we set off to find our Airbnb apartment in Kitsilano. We co-ordinated an arrangement to pick up the keys from a church in Downtown, and by the time we arrived we felt as if we had been blindfolded and spun round three times!
The apartment is awesome - 'quirky' as the description stated!
It's on the third floor and itself has three floors. The ground floor living / kitchen etc, a first floor mezzanine with studio bedroom and dressing area and then a second mezzanine / sleeping platform above that.
We touched base with Chris, who was in San Francisco for a meeting and was flying home via Seattle, arriving st some ungodly small hour later tonight / tomorrow morning. He recommended a local Thai restaurant Maenam, so we dropped our bags on the floor and set off for 4th Avenue. It's perfect - friendly and welcoming with excellent selection of beers (mine has ginger and lime, Bills doesn't!) we ordered a small to modest amount starting with coconut chicken and chilli soup, and just about finished it.
Meanwhile it started to pour with rain outside, so we ate slowly, waiting for it to ease before splashing our way home to a blissful bed.
