Our last day!
We needed to start early today - our flight from Calgary left at 5pm, meaning a 2pm check in.
Breakfast before dawn was a very very cold affair and the poor gas stove struggled to make progress in scrambling the eggs!
The glacier gradually became visible in the misty grey morning light.
We were on the road by 7.30 and heading south along the Icefields parkway. The skies were cloudier thsn yesterday afternoon, but the secondary continued to amaze and delight, particularly around Bow Lake and Lake Peyto.
Arriving in Canmore at 11.15 felt like coming home. Blue skies and autumnal foliage of every possible colour with the familiar mountain peaks of Ha Ling, Rundle Ridge and others.
We had planned to stop off at the Elevation centre to shower/swim/hot tub, but annoyingly it was closed do we pressed on to Eagle Heights and to Liza's house to pick up Chris's bike and Mike's bag and to unpack and repack the van.
The charismatic Liza was at home and in addition to sharing her garage and driveway, also offered use of her shower - extremely welcome after four days away from civilisation and three nights wild camping!
With our bags packed to our satisfaction and Chris's van packed to his satisfaction, we set off for Calgary airport.
For once we arrived a little bit early, allowing to park and check in before our last few precious minutes together.
We gave Chris a jade Inuksuk to travel with him in his van and keep him safe on his further travels.
It has been the most amazing three weeks. Action packed and mostly outside our comfort zone but so very exciting, happy and memorable. We spent 20 minutes chatting, reminiscing and looking through our photos before waving goodbye to Chris and heading on through security to our flight back to Gatwick.
