th July - Off to the next country - Wales to meet Chris's distant cousin Andy and his wife Laura. They whisked us off to Bracelet Bay for an Italian dinner with a stunning view over the mumbles. It was great to meet someone with such love for dessert like myself…
th July- We took a beautiful drive down to Rhossili on the Gower Peninsula, visiting Worms head, a beautiful headland overlooking the sea. That evening we went to a local pub to meet the extended Welsh relatives… love the accent.
st July - Met up with Julian (Welsh friend that stayed with us in Sydney 5 years ago). Started with a big hearty Englsh breakfast - but neither of us was game enough for the black pudding. We then drove up through the Brecon Beacons & walked around a couple of pretty towns in the Brecon region, before exploring our next cathedral. We then decided to ignore the pouring rain and head for the waterfalls at Ystradfellte, after get just a touch wet to get to the falls by the time of return to Andy's car all four of us were pretty drenched. That night we stayed at Julian's renovated barn in the Gower - it was stunning (well that is an understatement; this is the stuff magazines dream of getting their hands on). One of the beams in the house is twice as old as Australia. Had an awesome walk across 3 cliffs and down to the beach. Wales is really stunning and rugged in its beauty
nd July - For a change it was raining as we headed off to a castle ruin. Descriptions won't do it justice the pictures speak for themselves. The day was topped off with tea & scones in Llandeilo (I think we have eaten enough scones now for a lifetime).
rd July - Left "sunny" Wales & headed to Peak District after a loooong day repairing our stud car that was slowly turning into a dud.
