On Sunday - we met Scooby (our overland truck) and the rest of the 13 people on our Botswana trip.
If you think of boarding school - you are pretty onto how the rules on this trip work. And you can imagine how well that goes down with us!!! However, the people are awesome and we are having tons of fun. Our first day, we went into Chobe national park - it was amazing! One whole side of the national park was the chobe river - we saw about 30 elephnats bathing in the water... We also saw hippo, kudu, giraffe...
We then went straight to a Chobe river cruise and saw tons of hippos.... and another beautiful african sunset.
The next day was 12 hours on the bus and we only did 500km!! There were potholes the size of my Corolla... we ended up creating our own fun - the bus bar!!! (by the way the driver would kill me right now if he knew we called it a bus)
Tuesday and Wed we bushed camped in the Okavango Delta. We arrived by Makoro - think a long skinny canoe. We lie flat and get pushed by the poler. It was extremely relaxing!! We then setup our bush camp. For those who know Michelle - she did survive quite well!! We had a 5 hour wildlife walk the next day. It was amazing to see Zebra, Giraffe, Wildebeest and Elephant on foot... We then ended our day with a mokoro sunset cruise watching hippos. We were only 10metres away from shagging hippos and were all quietly praying that they weren't in a killing mood.
We are now back on dry land and grateful for no more bush toilets!!
Well our final days on the Kumuka bus were spent sleeping, reading, playing 500 and coping with a hangover. At $2 a shot you can't miss a bargain like that at our campsite. We tried a crocodile - which is compleely disgusting once it curdles!! The best is the giraffe - look at our photos for evidence on how this shot should best be consumed!!
Check out the Bohemian Rhapsody duo on the mokoro following all the fun!!
Our tour ended on Sat 30th May where we said our farewells…
