Well, we've been here for a few days now and already we've been able to watch the football with Wayne Rooney (I kid you not - this guy looked and sounded exactly like him!), uncovered a major betting scandal and been swarmed by papparazi (we convinced them that Mehul is a major celebrity back in the UK!!)
On a more negative note, it rains. A lot! On Wednesday we were at our hostel, scrubbed up, smartly dressed and all ready to go to this bar, Vertigo (apparently the 5th best bar in the world!) and possibly even catch some Thai boxing, when it started to rain. And not just any old rain - more rain than you've ever seen in your life. I mean, not even "cats and dogs" could convey just how much it was raining! Yesterday, just when we thought we could finally get some sun, sea and sand in Ko Pha Nhan it started raining again! Not jus poncy rain either, the sort where it takes 5 seconds to drench everywhere! So, stuck indoors we did what we do best - drink and play pro evo imagining what sunshine actually looks like! (Seriously, it's been so bad that we still haven't even got the suncream out of our bags!) Luckily we made it out in the evening, surveying the scene of where the beach party is held, which is actaully quite small but still a wicked place for a rave, beachfronts bars, buckets and even sheesha. However, in pursuit of the sun, in the end we decided to cut our losses and left this morning to come to Phuket.
As for the whole experience so far, travelling has been awesome (if a little hectic). We've met loads of cool and friendly (and some who are just plain weird!) people along the way including a black French guy who brushed his teeth in the back of the tuk-tuk we were travelling in and then got overly excited upon seeing another black guy in Thailand! And then there was the cute Canadian chick who Baij was blatantly flirting with (in my defence, I was just being friendly!!)
Tomorrow we're back on the road (or should I say, sea) again, headed to Ko Phi Phi ('paradise', as some people call it! =)) before heading down to Malaysia and Singapore towards the end of next week! Look out for more updates soon! (well, as soon as we find a place which doesn't charge us 3 Baht per minute for the internet!)
P.S. - there's a message board on the site! Leave us messages!! We want to hear from you all....!!
