We made it to DC finally after an anxious wait at Aspen airport. The winds were high and some planes weren't flying as they deemed it too dangerous. Our frontier pilot was a bit if a cowboy and decided he could take off surrounded by all the mountains in the wind and thankfully he got us to Denver safely. We grabbed some food then boarded our plane to Washington, which was very full. Both flights were over booked and they were asking people to volunteer to take a later flight, but luckily we didn't get bumped off either plane. Got to DC about 10pm and got a shuttle to our hotel which is not too bad. Yesterday was another beautiful sunny day although pretty chilly, we spent the morning walking around the National Mall, seeing things like the Capitol building and the White House. We looked inside the National Museum of American History and learnt a bit about the wars America has fought. In the afternoon we took a 3 hour Segway tour of the mall and surrounding area which was really fun. The segways are really freaky to ride, when I first got on I was sure I was going to fall off or crash into a wall but we all quickly got the feel for it and then it was amazing how they respond to your body movements. After the tour we grabbed a beer at a pub near the Verizon centre where everyone was decked out in their Washington Capitals NHL gear and were all heading to the game. We had dinner at a seafood restaurant, Legal Seafoods where I tried local crab cake which was yummo. We then walked our weary feet back to the hotel and crashed.
