Today we did our usual thing and got up early and packed up camp and made our way to Katherine. We were supposed to be meetings some of the other crew members in Katherine however the 4wd they had hired wouldn't start so they had to get mechanics and tow trucks out to them. Today once again we rose early and got on the road about 6:20am. We took a couple of petrol and toilet stops and made it to Mataranka before lunch. Today we got up pretty early again, it was minus 1 degrees in Erldunda. We hit the road and made our way to Alice Springs which was a fairly big town. We did some grocery shopping and went to Kmart so I could buy a thermos and Cam could buy a pillow as he had forgotten to pack his. We cruised onto Barrow Creek where we stopped to make some lunch, then onto The Devils Marbles which are a group of huge granite rock formations held sacred to the Aboriginal people...

Today we got up early again and after grabbing some brekkie got back on the road. We powered to Coober Pedy, with only a couple of short toilet/gas stops along the way. The landscape changed dramatically as soon as we left Port Augusta, the dirt became a deep red and the road and surrounds flat and straight. Today marked the start of our big Aussie road trip, we set off about 5:30 and met up with Matt and Hiromi and Camden on the freeway. We took a few stops here and there along the way but pretty much powered straight through to Port Augusta, arriving just before 5pm.
