Yesterday we got up early and drove a couple of hours over to the volcanoes national park. On the way we passed many coffee plantations and macadamia nut orchards it was a winding and beautiful drive. As we traveled further south we passed a few areas where the lava had flowed many years ago and left big blackened lava fields. Once we got to the big volcano we took a drive to see the biggest crater that had sulphurous smoke spewing out of it, then drove down to the coast where all the eruptions had caused many lava fields and the road ended where lava had flowed over the road and blocked it, it was bizarre but very cool. We headed back to kailua for the afternoon and hung out playing cards, swimming in the pool then had some dinner and crashed.
