So here we are in Aspen. Yesterday we left Grand Junction fairly early after using the hotel gym as it feels like all we have been doing is sitting in the car. We drove straight through to Aspen Village where we dumped our stuff at the lodge then dropped the rental car back at the airport and came back into town to do some shopping. There are tons if rich snooty types around the ski/après ski fashion is pretty entertaining. The village has tons if designer shops like dior, prada etc, some of them selling these little dresses even though the temp in the daytime is about -5 degrees. We checked into our lodge and grabbed some rental fear, then headed to the Irish pub for dinner and drinks. Then we came back to the room, hung out for a bit then crashed. Today we got up and hit the slopes after grabbing some brekky. Slopes weren't very busy and the snow was pretty good, a little icy and wind blown on the wide groomed runs but some nice snow on the edges of runs and through the trees. Just spent the whole day cruising around Aspen Mountain, pretty much covered most of the mountain. Called it quits when the gondola closed at 3:30 and picked up our laundry we had dropped off yesterday and went back to have hot showers. The weather today was flawless, cloudless skies and no wind, but still quite cold so the snow stayed loose and dry. We grabbed dinner at the Hickory Smoke House where Jamie had his third dinner if BBQ ribs in the past 4 nights! Great food and really cheap. After dinner we came back to the lodge and now about to crash. Checking out Snowmass Mountain tomorrow.
