The full cama bus was amazing basically a bed on a bus with an attendant going around serving dinner and breakfast and snacks and drinks, also got to watch 3 films in english, it was a very comfortable experience.
So the big city, Buenos Aires is huge! Not to mention the temperatures this time of year can get a bit ridiculous.
Our hotel has air conditioning so its very nice inside.
The first day we got there we visited the San Telmo Sunday market. Where people sell old antiques and touristy stuff.
The next day went to florida street and exchanged some dollars into pesos on the street, then we took in a Tango show with a Tango class beforehand, We met our old tour leader there Sole from Bolivia, which was amazing to see her. The classes were so much fun Ben thought it would be a bit rubbish but everyone had a great laugh, dancing with different partners and everyone was the same rubbish standard so it didn't matter how you danced. Sarah got picked to demonstrate steps 3 times!! She must have been really good. After the class we got to watch the professionals we had prime balcony seats. And the action was right in front of us, fair to say they were so much better than us. Nothing like stictly come dancing.
The next day we explored a bit in the day and then went on a bike tour around the south of Buenos Aires, on the way we saw La Boca an old port which is full of color but a very poor area of the city, we saw the Boca juniors football stadium, interesting fact the reason why the football team colors are blue and yellow is that when forming the club colours they said whatever boat comes into the port next will be the club colors and the first boat was from Sweden. We also saw the main government offices and the main protest area in the plaza mayor, on the way Ben got a choripan. It was a very interesting tour but it started at 2 basically in the heat of the day. Very hot. Not seen it drop below 30 since being here.
After the bike tour we met Ale and Marina (2 people we met in bariloche in new year) for dinner they took us to an Irish pub with cheap food and we shared a tapas style meal together and had a few drinks.
The day after we went on a walking tour of Buenos Aires north side, the guide wasn't amazing but it was interesting to see the plaza San Martin and we visited the Evita grave in the Recoleta cemetery, this was the nice areas of Buenos Aires, the bike tour was the more real and working side, the walking tour was palaces and grand buildings and parks. Again this was in the heat of the day. After we rested and got dinner.
Next adventure we get the colonial express and visit Montevideo in Uruguay.
