The Lamingtons
This sounded like a giant set of choc and coconut covered sponge cake mountains but alas the boys were disappointed (they thought they would never go hungry again). Not quite but a beautiful national park, a little different to what we are use to in WA.
I am going to be positive about this - the rain has been watering the dry sun parched land and been so desperately needed.BUT it can stop now before we all drown.
Camp Cooking 102
Bush Barby & Braised snake
- You will need all the normally BBQ stuff plus an eight foot carpet python.
- Light the BBQ
- Ensure the python is securely wrapped up underneath the burners.
- Note: You can wrap the python in foil and add some herbs for extra flavour.
- Start cooking the BBQ stuff
- Continue cooking until all is done; or
- Until the python has had enough and decides its is too hot for comfort and leaves - quickly.
Another successful Hughes BBQ
The rain much needed makes tenting a really wet experience and we had had enough experience so we decided to safari tent it instead.Let me explain - Take a normal 4 berth canvas tent add a waterproof tarp and there you have it - a safari tent.A recent survey of the Hughes family found that the safari tenting experience was:
- Cosy and warm
- An exciting experience
- Like being on an African safari
- Great - different
- Better than being wet
After the BBQ affair it was very important to ensure that the tent was fully secure, so it was out with the cordless drill and silicone. In fact we were so secure that we couldn't get out, but more importantly nothing,
Including:
- Eight foot pythons
- Ticks
- Leeches
- Rama (the wild mountain lion that roams the Lamingtons)
- Millipedes
- Spiders
- Air
Could get in - Job well done!!!
Time to move on again, the Hughes clan is ready for our next adventure - I wonder what is coming next? DADDA
Today we went to Binna Burra and staying in a safari tent in the middle of the rainforest. In the rainforest there were lots of vines. We were going to have a BBQ and then I saw a snake under the BBQ (see photos). The snake man came and got the snake out and took it to a log pile (about 20m away). The next day we did the tree top walk in the rain. JAIDYN
3rd little Pig is in bed with a cold!
Who said Queensland was sunny, it has rained the whole time we have stayed. It rained so hard that mum and dad slacked and got a safari tent (yes). The next morning we couldn't renew our tent so we packed up and left to do the caves walk, nice rainforest but the caves were pretty ordinary. We then drove the 1.5 hours to O'Reilys to do the tree top walk in wet, I was annoyed that we could not stay longer and the walk out to the plane crash from the 1930s like Rae. But I was looking forward to going to the Gold Coast. Our Teenager
