I thought this was going to be "Not a good
week really - 2".
We lost our internet connection a couple of
weeks ago, and after topping up the card with more money we managed to get on a
couple of times - but then nothing. After a week of trying, testing friends
laptops, testing friends apartment's internet, buying a new connection (which
we need for our Macs to connect to the ethernet) we called in “the man”. He is
a very busy man, and didn’t arrive till we were just about to have dinner. He
then stayed and kept testing and trying till 9pm. He even installed the driver
for our latest connection, which was way above and beyond the call of duty. In
the end we all had to admit defeat. He returned 2 days later and installed a
wireless switch. Now that is working beautifully.
It is surprising how important if feels to
be able to connect to the outside world via the internet. It is just great to
be able to use email, look up the news and find all sorts of information.
Internet access is one thing we feel quite lost without. That and the Hill’s
hoist (another story).
Tuesday we got our internet access back,
and Wednesday we got our Christmas mail off. The week was looking up. We headed
downtown and posted some home-made cards to a few friends we don’t have email
contact with and some parcels to the family. That took an age as the Post
Office packages all parcels - after giving things the once over – and we have
to fill out umpteen forms. That done we went to lunch at our latest favourite
noodle place, then had coffee and cake at the bakery.
Last week we bought a tiny Christmas tree,
a few baubles, and fleecy lined wool and bamboo thermals – so we feel we’re
ready to face the coming weeks.
Attaching some random photos just because I
can.
