All plans were changed and we were up early to go to Kuranda
The boys dropped us off to catch the train ( and we were never going to do a train again lol ) and they went by sky rail
Both journeys were very different by in their own way both spectacular Hopefully the photographs will explain just how high we both were but in different ways I must admit to closing my eyes when we crept across some of the gorges in our old rickety train ! Although the village was steeped in history sadly the tourist shops have taken over but the local craft and opal works were fascinating
We all met at the top for lunch and all returned together on the train The boys got to experience both forms of transport but wild horses wouldn't have got Pat and I hanging in a glass bubble hundreds of feet in the aid when it was 36+ degrees at least the train had a cold water machine and freezing cold refresher wipes The journey was about 2 hours there and back , so they were very welcome !
The carriages were all over 100 years old and they were in incredibly good condition given that the public are let loose on them every day!
So tomorrow we are up early again and this time hopefully it really will be to The Great Barrier Reef :-)))) we have opted to go with a smaller company which specialise in snorkelling only and not with the fashionable Quicksilver etc companies which are geared up more for the young and divers
They have only asked for Christian names and pride themselves on a personal service and as we all have to wear Lycra it is going to be very personal ha ha Don't worry folks Pat and I will be vetting the photographs carefully before they are put on here lol
Right folks early to bed as big day tomorrow lots of sunscreen and sea legs!
Speak soon xxxx

Lis Reid Sounds like a good day in Kuranda. We enjoyed it when we were there. Sounds like you'll have an interesting day on the ocean today.
