Here we go again. Dismantle the tent and pack the camper. Most of the washing got dry and we are off to Colmar in France.
Paul keyed in the fastest route which took about 4 hours including stops. We have to go about 300 Kms today and will start to see the alps. The scenery is changing to more Bavarian style houses. Also in the mountains we can see castles built overlooking towns in the valleys. The countryside is beautiful here. We arrived at our campsite Camp de L'Ill in Colmar at 2.30pm. The men set up the tent and camper while Dee, Pat and I inspected the amenities. It is not as good here as the last stop but it will do.
We are by the river and the weather is very warm. Probably about 35 degrees. Real summer weather. So I had to go shopping to get some singlets as I only have T shirts.
Paul drove us into Colmar for tea tonight. It is the most beautiful town I have seen. There was a train that tours the city so we hopped on. It was well worth €6 each. It took us through all the old parts of the the city. There is a canal that runs through the centre of the town. The houses are beautifully painted and the streets are lined with flowers. There were people walking and eating in cafés and restaurants. The photos we took will show you how beautiful it is. Trevor will probably post more later on.
We had tea in an outdoor brasserie. The food was great unfortunately the waiter was a bit poor in giving us the food we ordered. We were asked by another man who obviously was part of brasserie as he took our empty glasses where we came from. After telling him he said the Australians had beaten the French and the English lost against New Zealand in rugby. I thought I would keep very quiet incase there was hard feelings about the loss for the French. All in all it was a great evening.
I am sitting here where there is wifi and fresh air as the camper is still very hot. It is a good opportunity to post all my blogs but all the photos may not be posted. You may need to recheck them.
Love you all. Next stop Italy.
