This is a very quick update. We are in Marrakesh and have been to Fez. Some pics of the medina in Fez have been uploaded. Everything not necessarily nice but mind boggling. Proper update soon.
A further update of this has taken longer than thought. Fez was scary, dirty and exciting. The medina (market) was a crowded smelly entangled mesh of crisscrossing alleyways inside stone walls. Donkeys compete with humans. The call is Barak (Get out of the way) and Attention (Morocco is French speaking.) We went to a special night of dancing and food - the highlight being an unplanned Cucuracha dance by some members of the audience.
We needed 4 sometimes 5 people to look after us in Morroco - the bus driver, our tour guide, a Moroccan guide, a local guide and a security man who slept in the bus at night to make sure it never got stolen.
Marrakesh was beautiful after Fez Like a mirage with lots of palm trees and every building in the town painted pink by law. The medina was not nearly as exciting as Fez but had lots of snake charmers. We were lucky enough to visit a real home in a Berber village with the sheep and donkey (and chooks and rabbits) sleeping in the basement. This was up in the Atlas mountains and we were fed mint tea and the local bread. We are still alive. Probably more chance of being killed by the paparrazi - touts on motor bikes who follow the bus and try to sell to you as sson as the bus stops at each place!
We left Morroco by weay oif Rabat where we saw the Kings Palace. We had a really rough crossing back to Spain but managed not to pick up any stray Morcoccans who try to ride under the coach through customs into Spain.
Spain felt like an old friend after Morocco. We had one night at Granada and spent a morning at the Alhambra which is as beautiful as we imagined. Unfortunatley my battery was flat so only a fw phtos more coming from one of the other members in our tour group. Then back to Madrid for two days before our flight to Dublin.
