Day Twenty six January 31 Today, Insignia docked at Uturoa Pier in Raiatea. Raiatea is the second largest island of the Society Islands after Tahiti. From this location we were met by our guides, Vivian (a male name in French Polynesia) and Lionel to take us to the Faaroa River for a kayak adventure through the floral and fauna of the rainforest surrounding Raiatea. Day Twenty Five January 30 We left Papeete in the early hours of January 30 to sail to the island of Moorea. I thought that everyone would have woken up when the engines were started but the ship left port quietly. This is our favourite island and we have stayed there three other times at the conclusions of cruises. It is only 19 kilometers or 12 miles from Tahiti. Day Twenty Four January 29 As mentioned French Polynesia is in it's rainy season but we had another lovely day with only scattered rain showers with highs of 29C/84F. With this being the start of the second segment of the world cruise, all passengers were asked to take a covid antigen test. Good news, the whole ship tested negative. There are 3 nurses that are travelling on board who are exclusively responsible for the testing and monitoring.

Day Twenty Three January 28 Today's forecast again called for scattered thunderstorms with High of 29C/85F. We are docked directly in the capital of Tahiti, Papeete. The cruise terminal has sufficient space for our ship as well as two additional cruise ships- The Paul Gauguin and The World were also docked.
