French Polynesia is a collection of 118 islands that is divided into five areas:
- Society Islands comprising the Windward and Leeward Islands
- Tuamoto Archipelago
- Gamble Islands
- Marquesas Islands
- Austral Islands
The islands stretch over more than 2,000 kilometers in the South Pacific with land area of 4,167 square kilometers. Of the 118 islands, only 67 are inhabited.
The two official languages are Polynesia French and Farani spoken by the Tahitians. French Polynesia is considered what is known as an "overseas collection of France". France provides the resources for infrastructure within French Polynesnia.
The capital is Papeete on the island of Tahiti.
On a lighter note, Janice won a Blackjack tournament today. This is only her second tournament ever and she also won the first she ever played on the Windstar. Thanks to her win there she met 3 lovely sisters who were impressed with her as she beat their husbands lol.
