Day Seventy Seven-March 23
Having spent theprevious day Sventy Six cruising the Straits of Florida, we arrived into Miami at 05:30 with a departure time of 19:00.
For some people on the cruise, this is the second time they have been in Miami as Insignia started its journey there in late December 2021. Those guests are on for 196 days compared to our 180.
Upon returning to port, all guests must clear customs before any new guests can come on board. We were informed that 55 guests were leaving in Miami and 80 plus joining the cruise for the next segments. This will bring the total number of guests to roughly 300 and 400 plus crew.
The daily Ocenia Currents provided some interesting facts regarding our travel. These were as follows:
- Tahitian Crossing return from Bora Bora to Los Angeles 3,823 nautical miles (nine sea days)
- Tropical Panama Canal Los Angeles to Bridgetown, Barbados 4,722 nautical miles
- Caribbean Swing Bridgetown, Barbados to Miami 3,309 nautical miles
While in port the ship must bring on provisions to sustain everyone on the European Crossing. When a ship is full the port is bustling with guests leaving and their luggage collected in the terminal to those guests arriving and their luggage brought onto the ship.
It was here where we said goodbye to Heddie as she decided to return to Manitoba rather than go over to Europe.
Janice and I went on an unsuccessful shopping mission during the day and returned in time for the sail away. I say unsuccessful as Janice was hoping to buy a few more dresses as she is getting tired of her clothes. We did have a nice pizza lunch out though and did get to buy some much needed basics such as toothpaste and wine! There just happened to be a Total Wines store next to the shopping centre so Janice stocked up on more Oregon wine.
I always loved departing from Miami with its skyline and the long shoreline of Miami Beach, once you leave the harbour and journey into the Atlantic Ocean.
For the next two days we are sailing to Hamilton, Bermuda and then four sea days before seeing land again in the Azores.
Or at least this is what we think.... check out Day Seventy Eight's Blog

DENNIS BAKER Your magic mystery tour continues. Have fun and are very happy Janice was able to restock her wine inventory.
Marti The wine purchases should be enough until we reach Italy.
