Day Sixty Five - March 11
We are still sailing towards the Dominican Republic with the arrival time of 11:00. The original stop was Punta Cana however large sea swells prevented the ship's use of the tender boats.
The decision was made to go the leeward side of the island to Isla Catalina. The island itself is only 9.6 square miles and would be a five minute tender ride.
Off to the beach again, we were not complaining!
There were plenty of chairs and umbrellas for all of us and the water was a nice clear blue. Vendors were trying to sell their trinkets but no bars. It looks like this is a private island where cruise ships frequent because stand alone bars were noticeable as was an area which looked like a cafeteria. I assume when the ship comes to the island they bring their food and beverages for their guests. Not this time though.
I left prior to Janice to get ready for the daily trivia game. Arriving at trivia, only two of us were there as three other couples were on the same ship tour that left an hour late. We held our own for the first seven questions but a string of four wrong answers was our downfall. In the end our final score of 11 was not good enough.
We sailed away from Catalina Island at 18:00 to make our way to Santo Domingo on the other side of the island some 260 nautical miles. Here we will stay for two days with an overnight.
