Day Seventy Three - March 19
Our time in the Caribbean is coming to an end.
Only two more ports after today plus a sea day before we reach Miami on March 23. When the revised itinerary was published, I thought five weeks in the Caribbean was too long however the time has gone quickly. Today we are in Harvest Caye, Belize, a private island off the coast of Belize owned and operated by NCL Cruise Lines.
A snorkeling tour of the Barrier Reef was planned for the day. Unfortunately it was cancelled by the local ground operator due to adverse weather conditions and poor visibilty at the site. Everyone was disappointed as the number of snorkeling days is also coming to an end.
It was off to the private island for a day of sun and relaxation. I cannot imagine what the island is like when one of NCL's massive ships makes an apperance. There are plenty of amenities for everyone from lounge chairs, umbrellas, restaurants and shops. A 3,000 foot zip line is also on the property which starts from the lighthouse and either travels across the land or the sea for a bird's eye view of the island. I only saw one individual using the zip line while we were there.
A fresh water pool is also on the property with a swim up bar. I counted at least 10 lifeguards surrounding the pool area.
Our ship departed at 17:00 for Costa Maya, Mexico some 225 nautical miles away.
On a lighter note our trivia team is hanging in there, we tied for second today.

Dennis Michael Baker I will be curious to hear your comments on Costa Maya. Allan and I have been there twice and last time we spent 30 minutes on shore.
Martin Costa Maya was built strictly for cruise ships and their guests. Lots of shops and restaurants there now
