Day Three brought us to the wonderful city of San Diego. For some of the Around the World passengers it was the second time that they visited the city as they had stopped on the way from Miami.
San Diego, named after Saint Didacus, is the eight largest city in the United States and second largest city in the state of California. As mentioned in the previous blog we were intending to visit San Francisco where Oceania had planned two full days of tours. Janice and I had booked a trip to Alcatranz but when the plans were changed our tour operator provided us with a credit for the tour with no expiry date. One day we will visit Alcatranz.
Our ship docked at the B-Street Pier & Cruise Ship Terminal located at 1140 North Harbor Drive in the Embarcadeo waterfront district. One of the small shops on the boardwalk provided night tours of the city. We booked this with Old Town Trolleys and were told to meet in Old Town at 6:00 PM.
Having time to wander the city brought us to the LampLite District with shops and many restaurants from Italian to Mexician.
We also needed to obtain more supplies as this was the last North American city to buy things cheaper before sailing away. Of course more wine was purchased along with Pringles and other items.
We have decided that it would be a good idea to buy fridge magnets and place them on the door of the places visited. Our door is a little bare with only a Canadian Flag and a California beach theme.
We returned to the ship with our goods to rest up for the night tour and change into warmer clothers. Taking an Uber to Old Town we were told that the tour had left and that the original meeting point was not Old Town but Seaport close to the ship. A refund on the tour will be asked for the next day from the original place.
The decision was made to visit stay and visit Old Town and I took one for the team by eating at a local Mexican restaurant.

Michael D Sounds wonderful. Good idea stocking up on the wine. A wise move.
