At anchor
Finally in Mosselbay!
What started as an easy sail turned out to be one of the most difficult navigations. At 30NM from the destination the ocean became violent, with gusts up to 30kts....out of nowhere. Atlantis became as a wild horse that brook loose ....and she was going faster and faster. Normally I am always trying to find speed, but now I was battling to slow her down. For some strange reason I was not able to get the main down enough to get my first reef in and reduce sail. In the meantime I also rolled the foresail in to a strict minimum....that should do the job. I wish I had help at that time.
Later I resolved the problem with the main and could reduce my speed to a respectful 8kts. Heading for my anchorage in big swells I discovered the small club, just behind the harbour. I dropped the anchor and went strait to dreamland. A very unpleasant rolling all night...but I was too tired to worry about that.
It was only in the morning that I discovered the beauty of this bay...another little pearl in the Republic. God must have been in a good mood when he created South Africa!!
Preparing the next trip to Cape Aghulas...notorious place, but I will have 1 crew member coming on board soon.
