On Friday we did a boat trip on the Mekong Delta. We went to Unicorn Island to try some traditional honey tea which had honey, lime juice and pollen in it! It was really nice! Also tried some banana whisky which wasn't nice-too strong! It didn't taste like banana's either. We tried some tropical fruits like papaya, jack fruit and dragon fruit. I didn't really like any of them. The papaya was particularly disgusting. It tasted like cheese. Bad cheese. There was traditional music and singing being performed during this. At some point I also decided to put a python round my neck for a quick photo-not something I particularly enjoyed! Afterwards we went on a smaller like canoe boat. There were only 4 people to a boat plus 2 locals paddling. Before we got on we could see a water spider right by the boat. One of those they use in 'I'm a Celeb'. It was big and disgusting, I was nearly sick. For the boat ride we were given one of the pointy Vietnamese hats to wear. The boat went through a path with tall plants on each side making it very jungle-esque. Our guide had told us to keep our hands inside the boat as during the wet season crocodiles from some of the farms nearby can escape, I'm not sure if he was joking or not but the scenery could definitely have been somewhere in South America, infested by crocs (I should know with the amount of The Discovery Channel I've been watching recently!) We then had lunch (grilled pork, spring rolls and rice) although they did try to sell us their number 1 fish (which they put on a little display thing that 15 minutes later a cat attacked and run off with-it was nearly as big as the cat so it was pretty funny!) turtle, squirrel, iguana and snake. Nice. Then we took a horse and carriage to taste coconut candy (just like toffee, quite nice) and see how it was made. That was pretty much the end of our trip. We met a nice couple of a male Italian and a female Spanish girl-obviously she had to be from Barca and a fan. We had a lazy day ahead of the 1.45am kick off yesterday, the only highlight being trying to find the worst fake shirts to wear. I love how big the 'Aon' is on mine. There were a lot of United fans but a few Barca as well. Nothing to be ashamed of losing to a team like that but we didn't stick around for the presentations.
Today, with a hangover and lack of sleep we get a 10 hour night bus to Nha Trang (brilliant planning right? But to be fair we've been here too long due to the final anyway). Hopefully the rain will not be as bad at this beach side town. All yesterday it wouldn't stop, a real tropical storm and it's been going for it again today. Just got soaked on the way back from having our tea. It's definitely the time for a drinking bam as well, which shouldn't be too hard as I don't like the beer that much here. It's just annoying when a soft drink is the same price if not cheaper in some places!!!
