Hi there…I got my Sale 2 trips back today…I got all but one of the things I signed up for. I didn’t get the Japanese home visit, which is a bummer. The sales will be charged early in the morning on March 26th. In Malaysia, all of us got the Welcome Reception and Shadow Puppet Performance ($30). We’re going to the Universiti Sains Malaysia where we will enjoy local snacks while we talk with students and see a shadow puppet performance. Also in Malaysia, I’ll be going to the St. Joseph Orphanage for children 7-18 where I will interact with the kids and learn about poverty and child care issues. This one only cost $10 and it counts as a field project for my family class. I didn’t sign up for anything in Vietnam with SAS…there’s a bunch of things I want to do, but we’re going to just do them on our own. The other 2 trips I got are for Japan. One is a day trip to Hiroshima. For my abnormal psych class, I have to write a 10-20page paper on a culture bound disease or some historical trauma type of thing. I’m using Hiroshima for the project and the trip we’re going on is actually led by my abnormal psych prof., so that should be good. It cost $94 for the day, but I figured it’s with my professor and if you go to Hiroshima independently, it costs a lot more. Plus, you always get served good food on SAS trips, so that’s a plus too! Haha. We leave at 6am for the 5 hour drive to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum. The other trip I got in Japan only cost $5. It’s a Rokko Moutain Hike and Public Bath visit that lasts form 9am-5pm. It’s a 10 mile hike that passes a bunch of temples, shrines, and scenic points. Afterwards, we stop at one of the public hot spring baths. Should be an experience to say the least, haha. I’m also going to try and sign up for a YCMA service project for $15 for a day in Japan. We had a BBQ tonight for dinner! Cheeseburgers, ribs, corn on the cob, grilled hot dogs, baked beans - even ice cream sundaes for dessert!! It was awesome! Also had a church praise and worship service at 6...this is the 3rd one we've had and they're really great. We turn our clocks 1/2 hour ahead tonight, so in India we'll be 9.5 hours ahead of you..it's weird that it's already the evening for us and you're just getting started with your day!Forward this to dad...internet is still super slow so it takes too long to send more than one postcard at a time!
