So we start in Singapore, jen woke us up early and we got ready by 11am.
We weren't too hungry so a quick try of mooncake was all we had for breakfast.
After packing our things we got a quick look at the phantom, unfortunately we wernt allowed to go for a drive since today was the new drivers first day, and he wasn't trusted with the rolls yet.. :(
However he was able to drive us around :), driver took us to the Singapore island country club. This is where jen learns to play golf, and looks pretty. We came here for chilli crab, which was delicious, along with a variety of other foods too.
Driver then dropped us off at the budget terminal of singapore airport, where I was very disappointed with how budget they managed to make it..
It looked terrible, even our boarding passes were more like receipts. But I guess you get what you pay for..
After saying our goodbyes we went through security, where I got my first body search and an explosive test on my hand luggage haha.
By the time we boarded our flight to ha noi, Vietnam, I was extremely tired, so caught a few hours sleep on the flight.
We arrived in ha noi at 8pm, earlier this morning we booked a hostel on the Internet, the top rated one! Which seemed pretty nice for £4 a night, we also chose to get the airport pick up service since we had heard of lots of scams with taxis.
So a driver was waiting at the arrivals gate holding a name sign. We got into his car, already seeing the mad traffic around the airport drop off, and slightly worrying about the journey..
The roads here are crazy, cars on the wrong side of the road.. People beeping all the time and no real rules. As well as hundreds of motorcycles. This was a pretty insane journey, and quite a long one.
We arrived in the old quarter of ha noi, the hostel worker seems lovely, and spoke fairly good english. He explained the local tourist spots and gave us a map. When we got to our room we were shocked! It was more like a hotel than a hostel, the room was so nice. Turned out we had got a free upgrade since a 3 bedroom was available, all for £4 a night. Ridiculous.
We headed out for dinner, the streets were quite busy and very confusing. I managed to be harassed by an overly friendly Vietnamese man. Who kept following us on his bike, and asking me if I wanted a ride. He eventually tried to pick me up which was weird, perhaps he was trying to pick pocket me... But I was careful that he didn't take anything.
Anyway he left and we found a nice restaurant, it was about to close so we ordered quickly and got some beers and food. It wad really good, and the bill came to only 25 us dollars. Since I only had big notes I paid with my 100 dollar bill to get some change, and ended up with a wallet full of 1.5 million Vietnamese dong! Should last me a few days.
We headed back to the hotel and planned for an early start, lots to do tomorrow.
