We woke at 5 am, and walked to the tourist shop by 5.45 am to catch our bus to phnom penh. It was waiting and we put our bags on and took our seats.
Being so tired from the early start it wasn't long until I fell asleep.. We left Ho chi Minh city, and before I knew it we arrived at the Cambodia/ Vietnam border. The bus company offered to sort our visas for a small additional fee, so we left the bus to cross the border and get our visas. Then back on the bus for another 3 hours to phnom penh.
We arrived at 12.20 pm, and quickly changed buses to a small shuttle bus. This took us to another full siZe bus from phnom penh to siem reap.
This bus was a little less modern, but not too bad. The cambodian roads pus of phnom penh were very rough, but the countryside views were spectacular. A good way to see the real country.
It wasn't long until I fell asleep again, and before i knew it we arrived at siem
Reap bus station. A tuc tuc driver arranged by the Coach company for free was waiting outside with a name
Sign.
We loaded onto the tuc tuc and headed to the hostel. We arrived around 7pm after a long day. after a lengthly debate with the dodgy tuc tuc drive that insisted the pick up wasn't free we checked in. The room was quite nice, so we freshened up and went out for dinner on pub street. This is full of tourists and the children were always around trying the hard sell. We had traditional Khmer food, amok curry and khmer curry, as well as sampling the local beer.
Then we headed to the night market, this was full of people selling fish foot eating massages or body massages for a few dollars. We stopped at blue pumpkin, a dessert restaurant, for waffles and chocolate sauce.
Then it was back home and to sleep, as we had a day if temple visits in Angkor planned.
