Okay....so since the last blog we've pretty much just been spending time down the beaches in byron bay and surfers paradise soaking up the sun and trying to save some money. we did however take a day trip to a small village about an hour & a half outside of byron called nimbin last week. that place is surreal! although people tell you otherwise before you get there smoking weed is pretty much part and parcel of life there. as some of the pictures show of the shops its basically a potheads dream with 'special' cookies and dope more easy to purchase than a bottle of water. was a really good laugh though and we're glad we went! On another day off from the beach in byron bay we hired some bikes with a couple of mates we'd met from the bus and we set off for the day cycling up to the lighthouse (australia's most eastern point) through a national park and to other beaches dotted outside the town. hard work in the heat but worth it! we had a slight accident with the new camera that day hence no pictures but its all sorted now so dont worry guys! :)

we didnt really want to leave byron especially as we sort of knew what was next on the trip up and that was surfers paradise! Before we reached there last saturday we had heard that it could be compared to maguluf or any other tourist chav spot and it didnt dissapoint! to be fair the beach was pretty cool and ran for some 40kilometres up the coast but the city itself was horrible! hence why we booked our bus out of there after only 20mins in our hostel. thankfully we managed to get on a bus tuesday (the 13th) and headed for brisbane! on the bus up we stopped (in the pitch black) at australias only zorb spot which involves climbing into a massive inflatable rubber ball with warm water inside it and being pushed down a hill! that was pretty good!

So here we are in brisbane for afew days sorting out various things before hitting a small beachy town called noosa on saturday then hervey bay/fraser island next week! Hope everyones okay and enjoying the sun! till next time ashley and katie x
